Last night in Vancouver, it was Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Bruins and Canucks. It was more like Thomas versus Luongo. As Thomas made 20 saves through 2 and Luongo made 20 saves through 2 in a 0-0 scoreline. 5 minutes into the third, Hansen got a breakaway and he was stopped by Thomas. Shortly after that, Ryder came in and took a shot that was stopped by Luongo and grabbed out of the air to take away the rebound. In the final 19 seconds of the third, Kesler played the puck to Hansen in the slot and he played it to the far left, where Torres was. As Torres tipped the puck by Thomas to make it 1-0.Was it an onside play by Kesler to take the puck in? According to the screenshot (above) it looks like it's just onside. That goal would be your game winner as the Canucks take game 1 by the final of 1-0. "Just got to get open," Torres remembered thinking. "(Hansen) made a great play there to get it over. I was fortunate enough to get it in the back of the net."Luongo made 36 saves in the win. Thomas made 33 saves in the lose. Game 1 was a game of which goalie would slip up first and that goalie was Thomas. "I thought we were going to play all night the way it was going," said Luongo. "It was an exciting way to start the series. It was such a close game. It could've gone either way, a flip of the coin."
"You've got two of the best goaltenders in the league," Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault said. "Obviously scoring is going to be a challenge for both teams."With the win, the Canucks have a chance to take a 2-0 series lead Saturday night.
